Son's Properties Logos

Need to get away to the water for a day or two? Son’s Properties are an awesome option. There are several locations not far from us. I will be showing and telling a little about Son’s Island, Son’s River Ranch and Son’s Blue River Camp. My hope is to show you some benefits of each location so you can determine which might be the best fit for you and your family/friends.

Prices are not mentioned in this article since they vary depending on time of season, weekday and different amenities. I have included the links to all 3 locations at the bottom for easy access to that information. Just know it is within reason or I would not have gone. LOL

Happy Viewing! Let me know what you think, which you have visited or maybe plan to visit.

About Son’s Properties

All properties are nicely equipped with plenty of seating for visitors, activities to keep you busy, showers, porta-potties and even changing stalls. You can take your own tubes but do not worry about them taking up too much space on the way or blowing out because you can inflate them there. Rentals of all kinds are also available to but vary at each property so I will go into more detail below.

Take some food to BBQ on their charcoal grills or pack food in your coolers for a quick meal. Remember to not take glass bottles so we do not have accidents. Trash cans are also provided at each cabana.

See below for more details about 3 of their main Son’s properties:

Son’s Island is a great spot with Cabana’s right on the water! You and your family/friends have their own waterfront area with plenty of seating, table and bar areas to put all your belongings and a hammock to relax in.

You can easily take your own tubes but kayaks, huge floating pads and paddle boards are all available to rent.

Once you enter Son’s Blue River Camp you will see the Glamping tents (shown in the distance behind the orange tents). You will then be lead back passed the tents to the cabanas that then go to the water.

This location is unique since it has 1-story and 2-story cabanas to rent that are very nice with plenty of seating (see photos below). They also have two cabanas that are connected for larger groups.

If you are floating the river all you have to do it get on the shuttle and it takes you up the river to Son’s River Ranch to get your float and get in the water. Your group will then end up right back at this location.

Once you arrive at Son’s River Ranch you can park and see the row of Glamping tents (shown below). You then walk down this path and see the tents behind the cabanas. The tents are available to rent and come with a cabana starting in the evening at 7:30pm. It is great since these are close to the water. Unlike the other locations that do not have tents this close to the cabanas or water.

The only downfall is if the day time cabana rental (10:30am-6:30pm) in front of your tent stays in the cabana for the evening (7:30pm-10:30pm) also you may rent the tent but have a cabana and picnic table elsewhere. Since you now know this you can ask when you are making your reservation to rent the cabana in front of your tent for the day, have fun all day before you stay the night while making use of the same cabana. Meaning you are staking your claim ahead of time!

If you are floating the river the benefit to staying at this location is you have first pick of your tubes and/or kayaks because everyone picks them up at this location. Once you are finished with floating the river the shuttle will bring you back to your camp.

Tubing and Kayaking on San Marcos River

If you start at Son’s River Ranch you can float down the river and land at Son’s Blue River Camp. My group did this FOUR times in one day! The first time on the float and the next three using the kayaks.

We bought the wristband that included the unlimited use of the tubes and inflatable kayaks. I had brought my own tube thinking to save a little money and even inflated it there for easy travel. Once I was there, though, we decided on the wristband because it was so convenient to just get on the shuttle bus and not worry about my tube. Plus, the kayaks were so fun!

I loved Son’s Blue River Ranch because to start the adventure we hopped on the shuttle to travel a few minutes down the road to Son’s River Ranch, pick up some floats and got in the water. After we arrived back on Son’s Blue River Ranch we dropped off our floats and went to our 2-story cabana to snack, drink and relax.

Check Out The Son’s Properties for Availability

There are other Son’s location on the map above that I have not visited but do want to mention: Son’s Rio Cibilo and Son’s Geronimo which have beautiful cabins and kayaks to rent. Also, Son’s Guadalupe which has canopy covered picnic tables in the water, kayaks and tents to rent.
